The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government has positioned itself at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI) developments, implementing numerous national AI strategies and ethical frameworks. The country-wide adoption of AI has accelerated quickly, with reports placing the UAE as the leading country in residents’ real-world usage of AI at work. However, few studies examine how AI is used at the employee level, including in the public sector. This paper investigates employees’ usage of AI in the workplace, examining their awareness of guidelines and policies, and providing recommendations to better support the safe and appropriate use of AI in the workplace in Ras Al Khaimah and the wider UAE.
