Workforce Sustainability in Ras Al Khaimah's Healthcare Sector: Institutional Challenges and Policy Implications
A sustainable health system depends on a skilled and resilient workforce. Although burnout among healthcare professionals has emerged as a growing concern globally, broader workforce sustainability challenges related to retention, recruitment, and working conditions also require attention. Based on survey data collected in October 2025 and March 2026 from clinical and administrative staff across seven public and private healthcare facilities in Ras Al Khaimah, this policy paper examines burnout, workplace factors, retention risks, and wider institutional challenges affecting workforce sustainability. It concludes with a series of system- and organizational-level recommendations to strengthen workforce retention, support employee well-being, and enhance the long-term sustainability of Ras Al Khaimah’s healthcare sector.
